Recommended Posts

DID-erv2 pricy but by far the best chain I have ever used!

2 pair of vice grips and 2 6mm nuts put the nuts over the pins and SQUEEZE!! ?

I agree completely! By far the best I have used in 25 years of riding. also look up Dr. Dirt for a great price.

Mitch Dr Dirt, his name is Steve and he is a great guy.

I just bought and mounted a ERV2 and ironman's.

Price:

ERV2.....moto-man.com : 99.xx shipped

Ironman's front 14, rear 50... qualitysmart.com : 99.xx shipped talk to matt w. He was cool enough to throw in some rear bolts and 2nd day it to me, since they were out of 48 tooth rears.

Install:

Sprockets: as usual red locktite on rear, blue on front

Chain: I put axle (tight) where I wanted it with a teraflex rear and then hung chain over front and rear sprockets. Ends met on top of rear. Marked with perm marker. Cut off wheel grind marked pin. Hammer and punch out pin. Assemble chain with master link (w/o-rings) Take the 6mm allen key used for rear sprocket and place in middle of masterlink and cranked it together with a small c-clamp. Make sure you install clip pointing to front of bike while on top of rear sprocket. Enjoy not having to readjust chain after every ride.

ERV2 question:

I was going to buy another ERV2 today--but the parts guy insisted the chain wasnt for dirt bikes, and that they had a dirt bike 'version' ?

HUH?

ANyone know anything about this. I looked at the box and it said street bike on it--cant remeber if the other ERV2's i've used said 'dirt bike' or street bike on the box.

I suspect the parts guy was simply wrong--that there is only one 520 ERV2 and that its usually used by street guys with fast bikes.......hmmm.

thanks!

The VM is also refered to as a ERV2 but, it's a VM. Only One ERV2....If you buy a ERV2 from Rocky Mountain you will get the VM! They use the same X-ring...I have had them both apart, everything is the same except the wish bones are black. DID VM Chain Sold as ERV2 at Rocky Mountain Click Here Great price and they work...last forever. I try differnt things each season so, I can have my own opinion. I loved the the ERT on my two smokes and the XR400...tried it on the Oinker, It lasted one season and it was at it's end. The ERV2 looks great after more then a year but, I have new IronMan sprockets so, I thought I would try the RK Gold. It costs less and has stronger numbers....I'll find out how it stands against the ERV2. Barnum is using something like it that is a lot less but, I don't know if it is a RK or Regina, I'll ask him on the 6th

I am staked. I am having a hard time getting a staked master link right now that is what I am looking for to put the new stuff on. I might try the clip master link with glue for now. The small shops don't stock them, I'll have to drive down to Chaparral's it sucks paying $400 for a staked master link ? ?
