is the crf450r a better overall bike than the yz450f? opinions?

no...they are "pick your favorite color" bikes

Agreed.. Supposedly the yz has a little better engine, and the cr has a little better handling. But basically, it comes down to color and brand loyalty.

If you're a weekend warrior like me and don't have a lot of time for major maintenance, then check on the Honda side to see if the bikes are needing relatively frequent valve replacements. Neither brand are low maintenance bikes as compared to something like an XR, but the less major maintenance the better when free time is minimal!

Funny, my favorite color is red & I ride a Yamaha....
