--------01,00 WR426 suspension, swap w/03 yz 450 ??????

Hello,

My friend is selling his 00 wr426 and I wanted to know if I can use some of his parts on my 03 yz450.I want to swap the:

tripple clamp (top)scotts ----will the post fit mount on the frame head ???? or is the down tube different on the 03yz???

he has his suspension revalved (plush) and a titanium shock in the rear ? my question with this is can you swap the whole fork and shock over to my bike ? and are the stock wr springs lighter than the 03 yz 450? he weighs 170 and I am 215 ???

Use a caliper and measure the diameter of the forks. Then look at the size of the shock bolts a.k.a. pivot points. If the sizes are the same what more would you need?

i know the top clamps are the same cant help on anything else ?

03 yz450 still has the 46mm forks. So you can swap those.

The top triple tree on the WR has the mounts for the odo and lights, the YZ does not. Remember the YZ forks will not have the tab for the odometer, so you will have to scrap that and go purchase some YZ wheel spacers for the front wheel.

Other than that I dont see a problem. you may need to balance the rear out with a different spring and/or revalve. For swapping the shock, the 02+ is 5mm longer than the 98-01 bikes. I dont think that would cause an issue, but may close to the end of the travel.
