HI

Has anyone ever busted up their XR 650 Rims . Is it worth it to go for EXCEL rims ? Are they lighter than the standard rims ?

Thanks

Jan,

I ruined the stock rear wheel on the first ride. Even with 20lbs of air pressure I had 3 big dents at the end of the day. I ride hard but stock wheels on all my other bikes haven't been an issue. After putting Excels and 8ga. spokes on my '00 650R, I hit a rock at 60mph. It cut the tube and dented the wheel but the dent was very small. For me, Excel rims are worth the money.

If the rims on a 650 is anything like the rims on my XR600 there junk. I must say I did bend my new Excel rims on a rock hit with 20 PSI the first day out on a Cabo ride. For the most part they are a lot stronger.

Swaksaag,

If you dent the stock rims, replace it with the EXCEL's. You better start saving you money now cause replacement is INEVITABLE!

Cheers
