Graphics Kits

Recommended Posts

The Wife is letting me get a new seat/tank combo for my B-Day. (Even payed for half)

I ordered the Clarke tank (blue) and the IMS seat (SDG is up to $93, & I like the blue) ?

I wants to get some graphics for the tank and rad shouds but don't know what will fit the 3 Gal. tank. The YZ stickers look too small.

Ok, I just placed an order for a Factory Effex Graphic kit. Now I need to figure out the best way to install them. I have been searching the archives and it looks like hair dryer and solvent to remove old sticker, then wash with soap and water, then a 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol to install.

Let me know if I am missing anything.

I read a tip on one of the sites I was shopping at and it said to ride the bike for at least 3 days before installing the graphics to let the vapors help get the plastic ready for install. Does this sound correct I read contradictory posts on this here at TT.

Thanks Greg C.

Your right on. I would caution against using the solvent (ie brake cleaner) until you've tried the hairdryer. WD-40 would be a better choice. Solvent generally dulls the finish, OK if the graphic is hiding it, but not so good looking if it's exposed.

70/30 water/rubing alcohol works real well. Spray both the part and sticker.

Yes, let the tank have maybe 2-3 weeks to vent first.

Sounds like you've got it covered!

Hey Greg,

I just installed graphics on my bike. I used Windex and a bondo spreader. I squirted the windex on and squeegied the windex out. They stuck great and no bubbles.

Hold the presses. I consider my self a pro... ? all that stuff works ok but I'm telling you nothing works better than a bath tub and some hot water. You can stick and unstick the graphics as may time as you want...
