Need Pictures of CR Style routing

Recommended Posts

I need some help. I need to see some pictures of how you route a cr style brake line on an 03 or older yz. I got a galfer brake line and I am trying to find out how to mount the bracket that comes with it. The instructions aren't very clear. Thanks.

I gotta race this weekend so quick help would be much appreciated.

?

I am not sure I understand the bracket off the caliper - That bracket is not necessary and it looks pretty dangerous to anyone who may come in contact or get hit by it in a crash. You may want to pull the slack out of the brakeline by loosening the mtning bracket and pulling the brakeline up and retighten - I assume the homemade bracket is there because of all the slack in the brakeline. Too much slack will also cause the brakeline to come into contact with the rotor - it will chew it up...

I am with you on the bracket. I did not use one on my conversion and have never had a problem. The hot setup is the lightspeed fork guards. They really work . I have a picture of my lightspeed CR mounted brake conversion, but

" Me is too dumb to post a picture." LOL

If someone smarter than I woudl like my picture, please e mail me at jamesc4085@msn.com

Viper- you need to cut off the two loops on the stock fork guide and get a good mount, it will make a ton of difference. If you PM oldblue, he sells a very nice setup for 15 bucks or so on Ebay. I have one and I am very pleased with it. I would worry about the way you have it now causing problems.

That setup you have now runs the chances of binding your brakeline, and possibly even increases the chance of your line rubbing your tire after a while. Oldblue's anodized setup keeps it all snug out of the way and rivets onto your fork guard. Everything's included with the kit and it's probably the cheapest one out there. ?

What sort of problems?

Since there is no clamp on the brake line, it will be moving around all the time and could snag on something, rub on the tire or fork tube, etc. I'll snap a pic of my oldblue clamp later today and post it. It works slicker than snot, looks good, and is definitely priced right.

i noticed that when i had the cr style brakes that whenever i pulled the lever hard the line would pull hte fork tube guard back and it would make contact with the fork. after time making a groove in the uppper part of the fork, the part the tube goes into. ive always had shitty fr. brakes even after replacing the pads and bleeding them. as of now i have no front brakes cause there coated in fork oil.

That is why you cut the tabs off the fork tube guides. They they are just a large plastic band to take the abuse. If you notice the 05 YZs and CRs still have a plastic band around the bell of the fork tube for the same reason.
