Shock spring removal

How in the World does the shock spring seat come off? It looks like a single aluminum piece.

The shop manual simply sates "Remove the circlip, spring seat and spring. Boy that sounded simple... :cry:

Loosen the adjustment nuts up all the way... the lower spring seat is three parts,, inner, outer and clip. Once the spring is up out of the way.. the outer part of the seat gets pushed up.. BUT it is a tight fit, and when you add in dirt, dust, ect ect.. it does not always move up by hand.. Once you get the outer ring to move up, you will see the clip on the inner inner part of the seat.. remove it, and the outer seat ring will now slide down and off.

I recently went through a simlar exercise - looked like a 1 piece thing to me as well. I have 2 recommendations - lots of WD40 and a bigger hammer :cry:

Looked like one part to me too, so I wasn't gona mess with it till I had more info.
Great pictures! just what I needed to see,now I'm ready to install the 5.7 Race Tec spring I got last week from Shop TT.
I'm gona head out to the garage and geter done :cry:
