I BOUGHT MY FIRST MOTOCROSS.. A WR450F

HEY GUYS!!

I just bought my first motocross. A WR450F 2005.

I will receive it in 2 months.

What should I expect from this bike ? What are the things I should modify on him. Also, I want to street plate it. Wich kit is the best for that ? Also, what cool looking thing to add to the bike ? What kind of pipe, etc :}

not to dampen your enthusiasm but the wr is no mx machine in stock trim it has softer suspension for the woods and is much heavier than the yzf. so depending on your weight i'd look at some stiffer springs (stock is set up for a 160-170lb rider) definatly go with a lighter muffler(stock weighed 9 lbs)i'm guessing that you will have the same free mods as the 03-04.that should wake er up! ?

Well to be honest with you, I wanted a motocross for STREET.. But... Also wanted something that looked NICE.. And the WR450F is so nice compared to the suzuki and the honda xl650. And im sure it will be way better in the wood then the xl650.

You are going to love your new bike!

Do a search on the free mods and life will be good.

The kits are generally an over-kill. If you are ok at wiring stuff, all you need to do is wire the brake light to pressure switches at the master cylinders, add a horn (electric bicycle horn works well), add a bicycle speedo, wire up some indicators to an old street bike switch, and wire up the high and lo beams. Since you already have a battery, much of the dual sport stuff is not really necessary.

where do you live? If you live is a fairly "loose" state like I do you will just need to lie to Big Brother and tell them that you have done all the "stuff" needed to make it streetable. I live in WY and own house both here and in Idaho,:about 20 miles away. I plated my old XR400 by going to the DMV in Idaho as the bike was an Idaho machine on the MSO and asking for a plate. THEY GAVE IT TO ME!! I dont know how it happened but it did, I am not complaining at all. No VIN inspection...or any inspection for that matter. It can be that easy...or is could be a nightmare. Just ask a few people from the east or Kalifornika where you have to jump through so many hoops it may not be worth the time or $$$ to get it done.

can I ask how much you paid for the bike, I have a drz and will not get rid of it but I am going to get a lighter bike with more hp........and it's going to be the 05wr450f ? :Dthanks woody
