thats what it is. you asked how much can it hold. The book says 1200 cc's. The question mark was because I didnt have the book in front of me at the time. Call it an educated guess, or a lucky one. Depends on how you wanna look at it. ?

The descrepancy is because there is a certain amount of oil that never leaves the engine except during a complete tear down. Dump a quart in and read the stick to go from there.

And now, my rant. With any '03 or later YZF, after you change the oil, you will be starting the engine with a DRY OIL TANK. Oil will have to be pumped back to the tank from the crankcase in enough quantity to supply the feed pump before anything gets oiled. For this reason, it is EXTREMELY important to do these 3 things:

1) run the engine for a couple of minutes to put a fresh oil supply in the top end and elsewhere. (the warm oil drains better, too)

2) start the engine as soon after you're finished with the oil change as possible, so the oil can be returned to the tank while the engine is still wet from step 1

3) KEEP THE REVS DOWN! Wait at least 30 seconds before twisting the crap out of the throttle so at least it will have oil pressure, even if it isn't warmed up.

I think that I saw someone put about 5000cc's (5 liters)in a 426. I thought that was funny, because they just kept pouring in the oil. I tried to tell them, but as always, they wouldn't listen.

I thought that it would not be possible to put as much oili in the 450, but I have seen almost 3000cc's (3 Liters) put in one of those too. The guy kept saying "What is wrong with this? I keep putting oili in and there isn't any on the stick."

I think that the problem is no one wants to read anymore. Everyone thinks that they know everything.

I may not know the correct way to check the oil on a Honda, but I would read the manual first to find out the correct way to do it.

1 liter = 1000cc

So you would need to put 1000cc (1 Liter) in the bike after you drained the oil and DID NOT change the filter.

OR you would need to put 1100cc (1.1 Liter) in the bike after you drained the oil and changed the filter.

Or if you split the cases you would need to put 1200cc (1.2 Liter) in the bike after you reassembled it.
