I have a '94 XR650L, and a bottom end from a late eighties XR600 came for sale locally (cheap).
I do believe these are compatible, does anyone know for sure?
Thanks,
Al

From what I understand, if it's an 88 and up XR600R it should be similar and you could use some of the parts on your 650L engine. The gear ratio for 1st is different along with the primary gearset mainshaft, the stator is different and there are also no holes tapped into the case for the electric starter. The crankshaft and balancer are a bit different too if I remember correctly.
