I want to drive my XR650R on the street and would like to use some kind of rear wheel that has the rubber cushions that most street bikes have but I don't want it to weigh 10 pounds like my old XL's did. Does anyone know of another rear wheel that will work without too much fiddling? The XR650L doesn't have a cush, KLR's and KTM's (probably the lightest one) have different size rotors....well, you know how it goes. Steven from OZ please email me again. Johnny,
FWIW, I dual sport my XR650R without any trouble. I think there is enough slip in the knobby tire on pavement.

I am building a supermotard and don't plan on running knobbies on the street.

Ah yes, the super motard. Well, the XR has a judder spring in the clutch to cushion the application. I don't know if that is enough to aviod long term damage to the trans, etc. When I removed the spring on mine, the clutch hit much harder on the street.
