what should i get a yz 85 or a yz 125 im 5"1

i was wondering what to get i wanna start racing but i dont know if im too small for a yz 125

I dont think your quite tall enough for a 125 unless you have a very tall inseam, im 5'4" and I can put my feet flat on the ground comfortably on my yz :cheers:85, and thats 34" seat height, the 125 is 39.7", but if your really curious try sitting on one at a dealer ?

if ur just starting to race and you only being 5'1" i would definetly go with the 85 it has less power so you can ride the bike and not let the bike ride you.

Im 5'4 and I ride a RM125, its a bit tricky but everyone said I ride it good but I have experience, I dont know about you...try to ride both and see what you like better.

Also, yamahas have higher seat heights than all other brands, the hondas are 2 inches lower ?

i am 5'4 and i barely fit on a ktm 125 sx with a 36 inch seat height. dont even think bout it. give it a year and u can ride the yz 125

A 125 is out of the question at your height, your feet will just dangle and you won't be able to even come close to touching the ground.

A KX100 may not be out of the question, depending on your inseam. The best bet is to sit on various 85s and a 100 and see what fits you best. If you can flat-foot an 85 then you should consider the 100, as you'll grow out of the 85 a lot sooner.

Why do you say that? Until just recently I had a KX250 and a YZ250F, and had no trouble switching between the 2T and the 4T, other than the 250F not having enough power to suit my "fun factor".

Because kids seem to have problems switching from 2 to 4. Therefor, they ride the 4 like a 2 (example: justin barcia) and the bike gets hammered, if that makes sense to you.

Get an 85 BW or a 100/105. You are definitely too small for a 125. On the other hand, when Jeff ward went pro in the 80s, he was only 5'1" on a 125.

I wrung my 250F out for all it had, just like I would a 125. Why is that a problem? Of course it wears the engines out faster, but these are competition machines, meant to be frequently serviced and rebuilt. If you aren't willing to maintain them as they were meant to be, you're in the wrong sport.
