Did it happen just as you hit a branch?

I had a similar problem taping a friends wedding, turned out to be a bad tape. Nothing could be done unfortunatly.

Can't see the video since QuickTime says a component is missing and it can't be found.

What format is it?

It's a DivX avi, shouldn't have anything to do with your quicktime software.

As for the lines, it's the batteries.  :awww:
Walmart should have some nice rechargeables for relatively low price, I think they're around 2800mAH.    Last pretty long for me.  With intermittent use you should be able to get a good 12 hours out of them, but continuous is a whole other ballgame, you're lucky to get those 2 2 hour jaunts.  Try to disconnect the power as much as you can and it will prolong the battery life a whole lot.

Squidward, Do you have a problem with condensation on the lens  of the cam, I 'm getting a build up pretty quick? and were in cali with low  humidity......What to do

I've had the lense fog up for a short period, yes, but not stay that way.    The cameras emit quite a bit of heat, so you'd be getting condensation on the outside of the lense if I'm not mistaken.  It's probably the lense behind the initial lense cover (assuming you're using one of the Sony bullet cameras) and on the literal lense, so wiping it with fingers would do nothing  :D..

Try backing the outler lense cover off a bit so it's not sealed with the o-ring, maybe that could give it some airflow.  (probably not) :awww:  of course it'd no longer be waterproof.   One could also argue snugging it down would help transfer heat better to the outer lense and rid the problem, too.

That's about all I can think of.  :D

In conclusion... I have no idea how to solve it if it's doing it constantly.. :awww:   Sorry.  :D

Be the guinea pig, goto your local computer store and ask for some Artic Silver (or some generic paste, they'll give it to you for free) thermal paste (used for cpu->heatsink heat transfer) and rub it on the splines of the outer lense like you would locktite, but in gracious amounts... See if that helps... seriously.  :snore:  Maybe some anti-fog solution rubbed on the lense?

ps - If you've not caught on... I'm talking out of my bum.

no sh-t sherlock . that goes with out saying. as for batt life, all my vids to date have been on the same batts {energizer disposables}. i would guess about 6 two hours segments. i want to ditch the whole AA idea and use some kind of "pack".

 :D

The point is, Simon, that simply disconnecting the power for a few minutes and letting the batteries recover vs letting it discharge at a constant rate lets the battery refresh itself and thus you get MORE power to work with, not just equal to the few minutes you had it disconnected..  :D

There's these things called electrolytes that are drawn from the plates in the battery, if you suck it all down at once vs letting it recover you get less overall battery life.

Look at it this way, you take one drop of ink into 1 gallon of water.  You IMMEDIATELY suck that ink up through a straw... .. It's all gone.. poof. just like that.  Then you take a drop and let it sit in that gallon for a while and let it diffuse, suck a bit of it up at a time intermittently.. After hours of sucking you'll still have ink in the water.

That's the point I was making.  :D
