99 yz400f will not accept throttling from a rough idle. sat in garage for some 10 months. Perfect running prior to that. Attempt to give gas from throttle will choke it dead. Put new gas in, changed plug, checked pipe for obstruction, checked for air intake, but no results. It will attempt to rough idle after much cranking but head pipe heats up to red hot and never increases rpm. Any suggestions?????

Most likely the fuel sitting in it for 10 months has gummed up the carb' (jets). Pull the air filter, and clean and oil it before refitting. Pull, and thouroughly clean carb', making sure to blow out all jets and air passages with compressed air. Refit carb' and roost.
