What has happened to the WR forum?

Recommended Posts

Personally, I think with the search feature you can find the answer to almost any question. These bikes, although they have evolved from year to year, are all very similar (relatively speaking).

I think most of us have run out of questions to ask. Most of us are also tired of answering newbie questions all the time. Like the infamous where can I get all black plastic for my WR/YZ. (I was quilty of this one a year or so ago). We need to help the newbies out, but a lot of times it can be done with a referal to search. So, not every post turns into a multi-post discussion.

Until the new model is out, with new problems, the WR forum will be a little stale. Nothing wrong with it.

If you follow the advice that's already here, your bike should be running in top-notch fassion. I know mine is....mainly because of this site and my willingness to follow others good advice about modifications/repairs.

To be honest, it's kind of a good thing. Like some have said before, no one really starts posts like "Man my bike is running awesome", or "Man, I'm not having a single problem". Look at the Honda 250 X/R forum. It's all valve problems and burning oil problems. Now, look at the WR forum. What do you see?

? to all my WR bro's. The WR side is alive and well.

They lowered the WR450 quite a bit for 2005 and lightened it up quite a bit. I think it should be a nice bike.

Lowering it would help short people like me a lot. My 426 was way too tall.

According to Yamaha, it's 1 lb. lighter than the "Claimed" weight of the 04'. At 244 lbs. which is really 265+ lbs., losing 1 lb. is not what I'm looking for.

I want something that is at least as light as the KTM 450 EXC but blue. 5 lbs. lighter than that bike would be ideal.

Your WR250F weighs as much as the KTM 450 EXC with way less hp.

I have noticed that if i actually lose weight and start lifting weights the bike feels much less. Just my own expierience

I also read another MX Web Post. They had this guy awhile back who was out of control ? and the Webmaster blocked his IP address. I still find this forum one of the best in the world. I still get info. Just tonight I got info on how to get rid of the white marks on the fenders. This stuff makes it worth it. :awww:

I wouldn't mind owning a 300 KTM but there are no good dealers by me. The Yamaha dealer is a buddy so thats where I shop.

That's the problem with KTMs.... My buddy works at a Yamaha dealership, they are a class act and give me things almost at cost. I'm pretty sure I'll be on an 05 WR450 in a few months.. ? I'm still keeping the 300..

beez, I really like the 300.. I like to take it to the track and ride single track with it, it's perfect for GPs and enduros. The only problem is, all of my buddies including my father go on long distant rides throughout Nevada, we travel from casino to casino looking for cold beers, loose slots and cigars. These guys go all the time, since I've had the two smoke I've missed some of these rides because the 300 just cant go 180 miles on a tank and doesn't have a plate, plus you really want to have a nice comfortable ride on a fourstroke. I'm scared to get rid of the 300 because I've really improved my riding on it, my biggest weakness in riding is cornering, with the lightweight of the 300 it allows you to throw out your leg and lay the bike down, none of my WRs have allowed me to do that. Don't get me wrong, the WR can do almost everything that I want but once you get a taste of mega power with little weight you get spoiled with it.. My father and I buy our bikes together, I talked to him about the 05's, he's in and I'm 90% sure I'm in too.. The only thing that's holding me back is the price of a 525sx.. I would put a 6 speed in the bike and call it a day.. I'm keeping the 300. I wished you lived closer, I let you take the 300 out for the weekend ? . I can tell you're interested, you're just like me..

Dan, go to www.vcgp.com. You can get info on the Virgina City Grand Prix. It is held in April. It is a heck of a good time. We start on main street. Our club races there every year. If you come, our club will pit for you. It also cost a lot less money than the BID races!

?

Paul
