Spark plug cap removal (yes I searched posts)

Recommended Posts

Okay, I know its been covered in general, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the spark plug cap without breaking something. (yes the tank is already off) Do I need to remove the top motor mounts? Does it come out easier to left or right? Should I disconnect the coil to provide some slack. Everyone talks about doing it and I feel downright unworthy of calling myself a good shade tree mechanic, ....oh the horror, ....the horror. Please help before I write something obscene on the side of my bike. ?

I am not having difficulty getting the cap loose from the plug, I can't the cap out of the way to pull the plug.

You can also apply an air nozzle to the drain hole in the side of the head. Hit it with a burst of air and voila off it comes

excellent idea ! ?

You got me on this one :awww: So you cant get the cap out of the well due to?? does it hit the wiring loom/throttle cables? or is the high tension lead not long enough to get the cap out of the well? ( if someone previously cut back the HT lead and reterminated it this could happen) If this is the case just unbolt the coil and out she'll come
