Moab in October...mark those calendars boys!!

Recommended Posts

Normally it's 3-4 but this time around I was planning on just myself. Dan (N7SLC) initially told me that he wouldn't be able to make it in October but I talked to him today and he's going to try and go. So, most likely just the two of us.

Yes, I did because we're buying some property to build a new home on

and I'm gonna be broke. However, I'm working on a few deals and may

be able to go after all. Man, I hope I can! I want helmet cam footage

of Slick Rock and Porcupine Rim!

No worries Eric, I'll, um, edit out you walking your bike down the

drop offs. Btw, there's a TON of them in Moab.

Just remember...footpegs are our friends!

Oh, and cheap cabins are OK with me...Just a place to sleep and

shower afterall.... ?

Ride porcupine rim early or late because you will find 100's of mountain bikers. I have done it twice form Sand Flats down to the highway. I would like to hear or see some other helmet cam stuff from Porcupine Rim trail. I have some, but it is not digital. Not sure how to put it on the computer. You have to lift/carry/slide bikes down some 3'-4' drops to get out if you ride to the highway.

We'll definitely be getting some helmet cam footage on Porcupine Rim. There's one, 3-foot drop off that you can step down (while on the bike) and that's the trickiest part of the ride. Yes, Eric(MrMoto) you will have to stay on your bike for that one!:awww:

I really like the sign at the start of the trail that says "Motorcycles NOT recommended!" ?

Dont worry Dave is good at video footage of all the carnage. :awww: You wont need to bother bringing your helmet cam unless you want a first person crash video footage.? I have not hit the Porcupine rim trail yet. Pics look pretty cool! ? I am getting so pumped up for this trip.:D

I think I may be in for this one. I keep missing out on these rides and I need an excuse to dual sport my WR. I might be a good tour guide for monticello by then. Planning a ride there in August if things go well. I will keep you posted as things evolve.

May want to ride Monticello the first day since our tires will be worn after Moab. ?

Nice try Dan, but the helmet cam is coming with us. Unless you're

always behind me, your gonna be in it. IF I have a personal crash,

I'll edit it out...?

Porcupine Rim is, well, awesome on a motorcycle. Yes, the sign says

No jeeps/quads and motorcycles NOT recommended.

Are you guys still aiming for Sept. 30 thru Oct. 3?

Doug

Yes these are still the dates and there are no plans to change them at this point. David Dialogue is leading this trip. PM him or post here for any specific questions. ?

I'm leading this trip? I thought YOU were! ? Talk about the blind leading the blind... :awww:?

DOUG -- Yes, these dates are set in STONE (slickrock, if you will!) I have already requested these dates off of work and rearranged my on-call times to accommodate for this. If we changed the dates I'd probably be forced to cancel (heaven forbid!!)

Dave ? Just look at who started this post. That makes you the leader! :awww: I am just tagging along and enjoying the riding. Anyone want to split a cabin $17.00 each per night at the Canyonlands, since Dave is going with his bro! I will be out there Sept 29th thru October 5th to ride with all who can make it.?

Guys,

I have setup a mailing list for everyone that wants to keep up to date on the "unofficial" Fall 2004 TT Moab Ride. This list will be maintained up until the ride and then it will be closed.

Here's how to subscribe to the mailing list:

TT Moab Ride Mailing List

When threads get too long (like this one) it's difficult to keep up to date on the information and also since it's still two months away a mailing list will be a better solution.?

I got a cabin reserved but there is only one bunk bed per Cabin so it is only practical to have 2 in there unless someone brings a sleeping bag and a pad for the floor. I am OK with that. We can split the cabin and see if we can get a couple guys to camp out in the cabin for another split. Make sure you sign up to the mailing list ( ddialogue's post above) for details. Dave and I are putting the trails and rides together so we have some kind of organized riding schedule. ?
