Hello all,
My friend is very keen on getting a TE 410 1998 model, I took it for a test ride, seemed ok, checked the normal things like, chain, sprokets, wheel bearings, steering bearings, The left side radiator is pushed in a bit, the right side engine cover has a crack in it, but not leaking. is there anything else to look out for, Is there a manual online that he could get if needed? Im just concerned that parts might be an issue, and whats servicing like, reliability.
What do you think?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

There isn't much to look out for. These are solid bikes.  Regular oil changes, especially on these high perf thumps are really key, along with cleaning the resuable oil filter, basic air filter clean, and adjusting the valves every so often.  Man, other than that, these things are just great.

But, they do have the tendency to have hot start issues, which you can read in when searching 410 and 610 in this forum, and the exotic section. Dialing in the carb is crucial, along with some other things.  If you haven't had any starting issues yet when testing it, that's a good sign.

They do vibrate more than most, so don't be overly concerned about that.

Servicing, again, oil (easy) oil filter clean, air filter, adjust/check valves every 30 hours or so.

I have a 00 parts pdf for the 410/610. It's a little over a MB. Message me with your email and I'll send it to you. 98-00 are the same in most respects.

Parts and so forth, never an issue. And it should be an issue in the land of Oz either....
