Colo Spgs - Aztec

A small group of us slow-old pharts are headed to Aztec in Colorado Springs tomorrow after work. We'll be there anywhere from 1-3 until dark. If ya drop by, look for a beige Toy Tundra pulling a grey/black enclosed Haulmark. That'll be Merf.

Hey Merf,

Love to meet you there...but my parents are coming to town tomorrow to see their grand daughter. I ride consistently on Tues and Thurs at Watkins. Have you ever rode there? How does Aztek compare? I have been wanting to make the trip to the Springs one of these days.

PS - Was at Watkins yesterday with my neighbor and his son. His son's throttle stuck open and went off the apex of a big berm...the back side was a 12 foot drop onto hardpack. Poor guy broke his collar bone and fractured his wrist. Scared the hell out of him...but wants to get back on his bike as soon as he is healed. Pretty brave for a 7 year old.

Any time I'm riding and NOT at work, I'm havin' fun. We'll hook up sometime. As for Watkins, yea, I've ridden there. Rumour has it that the guy is finally grooming and watering the track. Last time I was up there it was a potholed, blue-groove of a mess. I wasn't inclined to go back. Byron grooms Aztec every day and waters about every 2 hours. That might change given the water situation here in the Springs though. I'll let you know how it was on Friday. ?

The guy at Watkins only waters and grooms the advanced track...only seen this done once in 3 weeks. The other two tracks are hard as concrete.
