This is a little calculator thing I posted on the MX forum. It shows how far an unpropelled object will travel (roughly) when flung off a jump face into the air.

Fore some reason I thought this was worth spending 4 hours on today... The good thing I found out in my research is that weight makes no difference on how far an object will travel in the air. Heavier bikes just carry more inertia into the next turn.

Cool little calc Greg...

Ill have to print up a few calculations, take them to some jumps, and try not to endo.

Cool! So I can hit a 60 degree face at 100mph and land 546 feet away  Well, I could do it once anyway...

But if you hit the 40deg. face you would travel 622 ft. Thats over 2 football fields(207.33~yds.)

Pretty cool. You need it to spit out gear and throttle turn though...

Yeah but you wouldn't go quite so high, so you wouldn't be quite so squashed afterwards. Still plenty squashed enough though....

Thanks. I am actually shocked it worked at all...and the really funny part is I completely understand the physics and calculations behind it. Old guys can learn math...

Gregg how much will be left of you after the landing? :awww:

i think they miss out a very important factor, that is preloading the bike, on a smooth gradual jump, if ya preload it alot, the bike will jump higher instead of further.

That's really cool Greg. I'm assuming you're a programmer? Me too. What did you use to build it?

So technically, my DRZ and I leave the jump along side Robby Kenevil matching his speed, I'd make it? That is, if he makes it  Cool! Better than tandem parachuting.

If you left the same jump face as a XR50 at the same speed you would go the same distance. Be careful out there...

It was built with Filemaker Pro on OSX, and html obviously... Low-budget.

how about a "suck factor"? Like as in how bad I suck at jumps (bad, terrible, etc.). That has to play in jumping distance/height/etc.

That would be cool if it told you how high you would go...

It doesn't say that you'd land on your wheels

The suck factor is already there unfortunately. Its the end of the MPH scale I seem to be in. 40 foot table, im going 1/2 to 2/3 across off a 40° face. Im going slow (20-25mph?, seriously what a sissy!).

I suck, and my brain knows it. It wont let my wrist turn far enough to get that extra speed, yet. Im trying to convince it to let me free when I get springs.

Im working on the height info now.
