I have a 2000 426 and was wondering if putting high heat sealant tape where the header and midpipe connects would reduce some unwanted pops. i have the carb jetted pretty spot on, but i dont think there is a good seal at the end of header. Any input is appreciated.

Well, I have a -03, but at least on my bike there is some sort of gasket at that connection. Maybe you could just try and replace that first, especially if that joint has been apart several times.

Call around to different automotive or motorcycle shops and see if they have a vacuum leak smoke machine. You can plug off the carb. and run smoke into the exhaust and find leaks you would never ever find before.
