Arrow Exhaust Systems Information

Recommended Posts

I have found several links on the net for Arrow. But, still waiting to hear back from Europe for specifics for the WR and YZ's. S/A will not have US forest approval stamp but I think I can live with that. Waiting. ?

Darren, no you are right on the mark! That is exactly the kind of information we are looking for. Since noise is such an issue in the states, some of us are exploring other silencer options. We had heard that in Europe the noise limitations were more strickly enforced. We notice that many of the competitors are using the Arrow system so we are trying to get info on it. The objective is to be as quiet as possible and not sacrafice too much on power and not have a Frankenstein exhaust system in the process. Any additional information that you can provide to us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul ?

Darren,

Does your track enforce any noise level restrictions?

It is hard to imagine anything as loud as the Pro Circuit on my YZF. I admit I’m tired of it, but I need the SA and don’t like taking the stock header off every oil change.

Like was mentioned, just looking for something (more than a little) quieter, with an SA, hopefully, and thought the FIM had strict noise restrictions that my bike, big surprise, wouldn’t pass. Ergo, the exhaust on the Euro race bike (what a beaut!) would seem to fit the bill. Quiet but fast.

Hi Hick...

my friend was in the same predicament as you.

He bought a Pro Circuit pipe to replace his ugly and heavy stock pipe(99WR)and **** ... when we started it for the first time with the new pipe we were blown away.... the noise is almost unbearable. But like you said... oil changes a sinch, and also what a beautifull pipe.

My answer was....

You know the tuneable ends yo can get for the pro circuit pipe? ... well I removed that and made an aluminium baffle which sandwiched between it and slid down inside the glasspack silencer. now it sounds just a little louder than stock, and He's well chuffed. As far as performance goes I think it is a bit better than stock, not too sure as I only rode it a few times.

When fist making it I just drilled loads of holes along it and in the end too, and kept trying it, and then welding up the holes till it sounded about right.

Also the good thing is, that if you ever feel the need, you can just remove it with an allen key.

Paul....

Sorry for the delay, only I've just spent the last few days in hospital after having my left eye removed....(ouch!!)

Anyway...

As far as I can make out (Arrow are not very forthcoming with info), There are 3 types of Arrow exhaust:-

The "Pari-Dakar", which is a huge contraption for desert racing.

The "Enduro-Alumilite", which is also huge and is intended for road use on XR650's etc...

and the Titanium Race/Offroad system which is similar to the one pictured on page 144 of the june edition of motocross action magazine, on Stefan Everts factory YZ426.

The noise level is 99db for this one and costs 359 british pounds just for the silencer!!..Also, as far as I can make out, it has no spark arrestor option.

If you want one, the UK stockist tel. number is..

44 1522 794262, but be warned that the girl on the line is CLUELESS.

Hope this is of help to you

Thanks much Darren! I have also been having a hard time getting info. I have placed calls, sent emails, et cetera. So far I have heard the same things you are saying and 99db is nowhere near the 94db or less we are looking for. At least you can save money on goggles now. All you need is a goggle. ?

HI ALL

TELL YOU WHAT I KNOW A GUY WITH AN ARROW

TAIL PIPE ON HIS Y2K WR400 , FROM BRAND NEW THE PIPE IS FAR TOO LOUD FOR MY LIKING.

I RIDE MY WR ON THE ROAD QUITE A BIT ,AND WAS CONSIDERING GETTING AN AFTERMARKET PIPE MYSELF . BUT LIVING IN A CUL-DE-SAC I FEEL

I WOULD SOON MAKE A FEW ENEMIES BY MAKING

THIER WINDOWS RATTLE .

ANYWAY I THINK I'LL CARRY ON WITH MY STANDARD PIPE AND KEEP THE PEACE . I'VE RIDEN MY MATES WR WITH THE ARROW PIPE AND I'M NOT TOO SURE IF SPENDING £££'S ON THE PIPE HAS REALLY ANY

BENEFIT , APART FROM ATTRACTING THE BOYS IN

BLUE .

BUT HEY EACH TO THIER OWN.

SORRY FOR SOUNDING NEGATIVE .

HAVE FUN

JOHN

HAMPSHIRE , ENGLAND.
