god knows he said this enough about the 02 crf and the 02 yzf. maybe the 03 ho will rule because it is a yamaho. i bet if it had a one speed tranny and an airbox made of bamboo he would want to love it in its special place.

please insult me for stirring up porky,

mmr

ps. i think there will be a difference between the 02 and the 03 yzf. one that even a rider with the lack of sensory feedback felt by therapture could feel. remember, he says that you have to be "pro" to tell if a bike turns ****ty or is heavier than something else.

Ok, first...that was very funny...LOL!!

Now, funny yes, but not exactly right. He never said you couldn't feel a difference in bikes, but that two similiar bikes of the same type and class (this does not include the klx or the bamboo airbox bike...lol...that was a good line by the way) would be just as competitive in the same person's hands when set up for them, which is true. Nobody ever bought a new bike and went from mid-pack novice to picking up paychecks in the expert class each week.

I laugh my *** off every time I read somesone say 'the new 450f will smoke the honda!'. These people haven't raced anything in their life if they really think that load of crap is true, and when they continue to get lapped by the same guys lapping them now they will find out just how big a difference the new bike is as far as results are concerned...nada. Bikes aren't the same and don't feel/handle/ride the same, but the differences don't make much of a difference in a race, that was his point.

Yessir, seen it, very interesting too! Well, I can agree the point that leaving the fifth gear in would not have hurt the overall picture...but alas, it is what it is, and we can't change it.

I guess Yamaha has a plan...or something.

I am getting a new Yammie, mainly because I came back to MX on the Blue Beast, I like it, and I am just gonna stick with it. I do however, like the CRF, and if Yamaha had not updated the YZF, I would be going red....

As far as what mxaddict said, heck ya, that's right, I do not expect a new bike to magically propel me into some higher class, just that having a new bike will be cool again after not having a new one since 1996 and a 5 year layoff.

Madmikerowan has some inner issues he needs to deal with, mainly restating a person's statements into something completely different...LOL

Your correct to in mag respect, I Persoanlly think and this is my own opinion

That the "Sheeple" effect is with any marketed product. I would say or change my statement above that 70-80% are sheeple effective marketing.

But Thats not saying Marketers Know there butt froma hole in the ground. Most 99% of the marekters I have t work with are educated morons that dont understand a thing about the product there pedling or the sport if thats the part there peddiling...

I normally ride on saturdays, leaving sunday's for "recovery" ? and other things, however, this weekend I may make an exception so I can hook up with Garrett (motoman393) at VP Cycleranch.

hey ya'll

sorry to everyone i haven't been back here on the old pumpertalk lately, but some of us have to work! anyway, i was wondering something. it is obvious that a fast guy will nearly always beat a slow guy regardless of equipment. what does this fact have to do with discussing the qualities of different dirt bikes? I don't care what any of you ladies say, some are better than others. its sort of the same with women you see. there are really bad ones, a fair number of good ones, and very few super excellent ones. but there are a couple i reckon.

oh, and if out of two young ladies, one had an ass that weighed 20 lbs more than the other, would the big booty chick be "just as good?"

i guess it depends on the rider...

mmr

ps dear the rap tour: kisses for you my boastful friend. i bet you are so dang fast you burn down the over 40 junior class. could you describe yourself as you fly like a pig high in sky over texas? rock on brother. is it hard to grip the bars with cloven hooves?

Do all of you just like to shift. Does it make you faster? I wish they would have made a bulletproof automatic maybe with a planetary gearset. I would smoke all of you while you rowed through the 4,5, or 6 gears you want so bad. A revloc clutch and an automatic. Since we are dreaming why not fuel injection too. Please carefully assess what you want a particular motorcycle to do and buy the correct one. It is rididculous to spend money for a sex change. This bike is a motocross bike only. Honda makes a badass desert racer if top speed is what it is about! ?

Just WHAT? badass dez bike does honda make?

I can't think of 1 that I would even compare to the 400/426! Yes the crf is a "good" bike but surely in the DEZ it is NOT a badass!

Look at the Hare n Hound or the Hare Scrambles series and tell me who and what bikes are in the top 10.

I dont think there will be ONE crf and maybe only 1 or 2 XR 650 pounders. And only because of the rider that THEY are there!

Which honda ?

:D

Your right about the CRF being a motocross only bike. At our last cross-country race there was a 300 yard mud-bog that you had to pedal through and with 200 riders on the circuit the going got very slow through this mess, well i found myself picking my way through a steam-fog of CRF450's over-heated billowing steam like a boiler had ruptured, yes there was one yammie on the side of the trail but there were five crf's that were well-done and not going anywhere soon.

Well, I realize for some people the new 4-speeders may not be a GoodThing© but for mx'ers, I think it WILL be a benefit. The fact of the matter is that a modern big bore strokes does NOT need more than 4 gears for MX and SX work. With the longer stroke engines that help to spread the torque curve along the entire rpm range (think BIG and FAT torque!), and the technology that allows these bikes to have 10k+ rpm top end speeds, the powerband is SO WIDE that you can come out of a corner at say 3000rpm and keep the gas on all the way to 10000rpm and NEVER SHIFT to the next corner. This makes my clutch hand happy, not to mention less abuse on tranny gears and drivetrain.

I do however feel for the off roaders that NEED 5 speeds or even 6. however, I feel that Yamaha will have an easy way to make the YZF have more speeds, after all, the WR shares the same updates...
