I'm pretty excited but mentally can't stop thinking that it may be too much bike for a born-again rookie like me. My "last" ride was 10+ years ago on a YZ250 when I knocked myself loopy and broke my shoulder in (4) places.
OK, I finally pulled thr trigger on the TE250....

I've had the kids bikes for 2 weeks and after watching them ride all weekend, I finally went and picked up the TE250 today.

Ya, welcome back. Just don't be afraid to use all the saftey gear you can get you'r hands on. When I first got back on, all the extra stuff I wore made me feel like the Michelin Man... now I don't even notice
and belive me, I've been glad I was all geared up more than once. But if you're just cruzin' with the kids you'll be fine.
couple of questions
What shop?..would you recomend?...caution against?...good deal? etc
Congrats on the new ride

Thanks badknees...I've bought most of the safety stuff already and I still want to get a few more items (elbow pads and a kidney belt top the list).
I bought the bike at GP Motorsports in Downtown San Diego. They came highly recommended (both from stuff I saw in magazines and a friend of mine). The transaction was very smooth. I had a price before I went in and was in & out in less than 30 minutes. I would say the price was "very fair" and they didn't try and jack me for freight, dealer prep, etc...like every Honda dealer I went to looking at the CRF250X.
If you're in the market and willing to make a drive, Motoexotica in NorCal offered me the best price of $5700 + tax & DMV fees = $6200. I paid a lil less than $200 more so the drive, time & hassle wasn't worth going all the way up there. The dealer in Santa Ana and riverside wouldn't give me an online quote.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
