Replacement rad slightly wider?

I had to replace my right rad after doing some damage to it. I purchased a new one from a dealer and when I put it on I noticed it was slightly larger than the original because my plastic fins won't fasten on anymore because of the increased width. Was I given the wrong rad? If so, I won't be able to return it because I purchased it before the winter and never had the opportunity to replace it until now.

Thanks in advance,

Are you sure you put the rubber grommets in the right way? If I recall one side may be thicker than the other.
