Is there anything I should do to the bike as far as performace and better handling? The bike is pretty much stock. The only thing it has is ProTapper bars on it.Is there any way to lighten a 02'426 up that not going to cost a ton for 1-2lbs ?

You can spend alot of money trying to lighten the bike up. I have spent alot and I have bought most of it on E-bay! LOL

I am at 232 with 1/3 tank of gas and all the fluids. That is about 10-12 pounds lighter than stock (give or take a few).

Dude just go get yourself some eye drops and brew some coffee extra black. There is every mod you can think of some could cost big dollars and a few trick things that cost $3 bucks. This might take some eye bleeding for the amount of time its going to take you to read it all. This is the best sight for the qts your asking. Keep reading this sight...You want a great read start with MOTOMAN393 for the BK carb mod and the cam mod about the 450 cam in your 426. Good luck with the weight thing that could get costly. Welcome to TT and don't forget to blink and eat between threads. ?

what kind of riding do you do?i do mostly mx and i couldnt imagine needing more power.try playing around with your gearing and maybe a aftermarket exhaust system may help.i can beat a lot of the newer bikes with my 01 426,but the rider has a lot to do with that. ?

Just ride it. I came off a CRF450 due to money problems and found this one for a steal. I hated it at first because it felt so heavy. But you just get used to it. The up side to it is no tank slappers. Very stable bike. Its much cheaper to just deal with it. I want to be a little lighter too, but it is much easier on the wallet to lose 10 lbs, which I am doing right now as I drink this light beer. ?

Do the cam mod! Don't wait, worry, or wonder! It is by far the best mod I have done. It increases reliability, its funner with friends (that will never figure out "the drill") and the power increase was immediate on my bike.
