Hey gang,
Got a 4th gear chunked, any advice before the teardown Monday night. It's been feeling funny in 4th gear for several months now but with no ill material in the oil changes so I just chalked it up to being a overly nervous Engineer and ignored it. Today I took a several mile road trip, and asphalt driving in 4th was scary. Got to the point I was skipping fourth during the upshifting cause I just hated feeling what I could best describe was a wierd vibration in 4th.

Got home and had a brilliant idea, roll the bike around the yard backwards in gear. You guessed it, in 4th gear I get a clunking sound only when I roll it backwards not forwards. Which would make sense that I have some teeth chipped on the load side of the teeth. I don't think any are gone cause I'd feel it rolling backwards or forwards.

Was there any problems with the early trannies?

Thanks
Joe

PS: Pray guys...I've got until the 29th to get it back up or YZMAN400 and Pooley are riding without me. AND THAT AINT GONNA HAPPEN. I AINT MISSIN THE SPRING CCC RIDE!!!

Hey gang,
Anybody know what parts are involved to switch to the WR ratios. As I recall it's only 1st and 2nd that are lower. What the heck, if I'm already gonna replace both 4th gears, and maybe a fork, I'll go ahead and swap out first and second?
