Cr 125 valve stack sequence

I was changing rebuilding my rear shock and one thing led to another and I dropped the shims and now don't have a clue of the sequence.

There are washers, shims, bits of everything and I don't have a clue which way it went together.

Help

First thing to do would be to closely check for any damage on all the parts you dropped (piston as well?)

 

Second would be to separate and clean each shim.

 

Then with a digital caliper, to measure each shim's outer diameter and thickness,

note each shim size and the quantity of each size you have, make a list.

 

If Mog or anyone else can locate the stock valve stacks, you can then compare with the shims you have

and perhaps switch a few around from the stock configuration to better suit your usage.

It's a 1991, everything has been cleaned but not measured as yet.

It was only the washers, shins that I dropped, the numbers on the image are the amount of each washer, the ones with no numbers are single items if that makes sense.

I have measured all the washers, hopefully you can read my scruffy writing!

There is also one big thick washer that I know was on the shaft first as it didn't fall off! The rest is a mystery to me.

You need to measure the thickness of the shims also.

They are all the same thickness bar two or three of them. 0.5mm (my calipers aren't the best).

I could really do with an image of how they go together as I don't know where the piston and other thicker washers/shaped washers in the bottom right go?

Obviously the nut goes on the top and I'm thinking the 1 x 16mm washer goes underneath that. But the rest I'm clueless.

It goes nut , small fat washer , shimstack for rebound starting smallest shims first , then piston with ports that less wide apart than the other side, ten biggest shims tapered down, then large fat washer

OP, as you can see from mog's eariler posted chart (post #12)

 

the shims can vary thickness from 0.1mm to 0.3mm,

you should get an accurate digital caliper (vernier/pied à coulisse numérique)

and re-measure each shim carefuly.

I'm still really struggling here I don't understand at all without seeing a picture.

There is a shamferd washer and 10 of one washer and 6 of another (all the same thickness) but I am literally banging my head against a wall! It's like trying to learn trigonometry!

Just going to have to buy a new shock I think!!

Its not that hard.  You have everything there.  In your second image the piston is oriented with the rebound side up and the compression side down.  This is important for reassembly.

 

Try this.  Starting with the big thick washer on the shaft, add them in this order.

 

-big thick washer-

32x8mm- smaller side facing \/

22mm- thicker one

24mm

26mm- thinner one

28mm- thinner one

30mm

32mm- thinner one

34mm

36mm

22mm- thinner one

38mm x10

-piston goes here-  compression side faces /\  rebound side faces \/

34mm x5

20mm- thinner one

32mm- thicker one

30mm

28mm- thicker one

26mm- thicker one

24mm

22mm- thinner one

26x3mm washer

Nut

 

You'll have some extras but it doesn't matter.  If the stack is too short you can stack some of the left over washers between the 26x3mm washer and the nut until you can get it to work.

 

Post a few pics once you have it together and we'll tell you if you got it right.
