MX Training

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Im hoping you guys can give me a few pointers on this topic.

Im looking at getting a gym bike so i can do my cardio training for the upcoming MX season and i don't know what to get.

In terms of Magnetic resistance or brake resistance, which is most suited.

I personally prefer the brake system cause they have more of a bicycle feel to them as the magnetic ones are odd shaped, also the magnetic ones have alot more electronic stuff that can go faulty, or am i mistaken? I pretty much just want to focus on getting my fitness up before i start doing more strength training and all.

At 31 i'm definitely no pro rider and nor do i intend to be, but i want to atleast avoid the pain of not being fit enough to maintain race speeds.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I would also suggest the rower if you don't want to travel outdoors to keep fit. If you don't mind however I would recommend getting yourself a road bike and hitting the tarmac. It's low-impact which means you can keep going for longer (unlike running for example) and it really works your leg muscles and lungs. Out of all the running, rowing, swimming and cycling i've done, i've noticed the biggest gains from cycling. It's not for everyone though, some love it whilst others hate it.
