630 pitch chain - swap with 530

Recommended Posts

Original setup is 14/43 112 link 630.

The only kits I can find are in 530, generally 114 count. Gearingcommander.com states a 10 inch difference in length from the 630 112 link and a 525 114 link. Can someone forward a URL or shed some light on this for me?

How could they (**@y) sell these chain and sprocket kits if it won't work? This is taking the GC.com calculator as gospel.

525 and 530 are 5/8'' between pins , 630 is 3/4''. 525 is 5/16'' wide at the rollers , 530 and 630 are 3/8''. Modern chains have improved a lot since your bike was built. They're stronger and also a lighter chain uses up less power to ''bend'' it around the sprockets while running.

I am sure you can find the "calculator" or formula online for calculating chain lengh for a specific applicaton.  you just need to know the distance between the sprocket centers and tooth count you plan on and chain pitch (the distance between the chain pins which Joe explained).   Then you can check your suppliers calculations and compare them etc.   Oring for certain,  and Tsubaki and DID have seemed the best values to me.
