Back on a HUSKY yay! 06 TE450

Recommended Posts

I had a 05 TC450 bought new and loved it . Rode the crud out of it for years but here in California a plated bike is the way to go so I sold it and bought a DRZ400 Great bike but heavy . Anyway I came across an 06 TE450 on craigs list with 1200 miles on it and got it for 1300.00 with all kinds of upgrades new pirellis and more   it wasnt ridden much and has been sitting for a year so it needs a carb cleaning ( no problem for me) and looks like fork seals . I am capable of rebuilding the engine but have never done indepth work on forks , can I do this myself  ? Also I want to update all  the plastics to the white/red what brand is best? Next What lighting are you all running I was looking at the trailtech 8" Race light or the X2 Hid. what kind of wattage can I get away with? Im sure theres more but I'll start with these.....  Thanks in advance ...Mark

Interesting , I just picked up an '08 TE510 and would prefer to have blue/yellow of the '05 & '06's , but as I understand the 2 don't fit . I was looking at UFO plastics.

$1300 is a great price , I had to pay double that for mine with 12K on the odo and am planning to get a crank replacement ready to go in before it goes . The topend had been redone 1500 miles ago . Not that many up here .  I too have a DRZ and built a 462 stroker motor , still not close to these TE's .  Go have a look on cafehusky.com forum , lots of info on these bikes however registering is a pain and I still can't post or participate , don't know what they're problem is.

They only have roughly one active moderator. Post in the office over there that you need approval and they'll usually do it. You got that bike for a song. My 2006 te450 is ca legal and I ride the wheels off it. Southern California if anyone is local

Zbbt where abouts I'm just north of Palm Springs. Well I rebuilt the carb and addressed the the crappy intake manifold that they all have. I thought my built DRZ had power I forgot what the TC 450 was like . My fork seals might be ok I found a loose banjo fitting on the upper brake line so that was dripping down the forks I'll see in time. I ordered the trail tech Extreme HID light which I'll wire straight to the battery. Any suggestions on a new stator ? I'll be ok for a bit since that light has 3 separate 30watt bulbs independently switched ,one 30watt HID is WAY better than the stock setup lol. AAA on Wed to register the a shakedown ride....
