Racing 125's in the 250 class?

Recommended Posts

So I want to start racing my 125 at local tracks. I'm kind of a Spode but I know the only way to be a better racer is race, and what I've seen from my brother racing is he could sandbag with the amateurs in the two stroke class but in open or a 250/125 class he would struggle with the 250s is racing with 250s fair. I know in 2008 they were going to have 2st and 4st 250s race together. And I also read that AMA is and outdoors don't have any regulations on bored out 2st. So should I race in a beginner 2st only or open class any guidance and wisdom is much appreciated

90% rider. Especially in the lower ranks.

Back in the day, our local "pro class" (money class, any size bike was legal), I could often win it on a 125. Of course it depends on the track. Heres a pic of the class in 1978. I'm #12 on a YZ125 in an otherwise sea of 250s. I obviously made it to the first turn just fine.

Another pro class start. I'm #12 (74 CR125) and #19 is a first yr(75) RM125. All those 250s behind us... A 125 has some advantages over a big bike. Just gotta exploit them.
