Replacement headlight options

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 2009 WR450F, and it came with a broken headlight assembly.  The outside plastics and lens are fine, but the assembly behind it is broken.  I priced out the replacement yamaha assembly, but was wondering if people had any better mods that still look similar to stock, but with LED's or other improvements?

Thanks,

Jeff

Ive been wanting to put a 2012+ wr headlight on my 07 running the baja xl pro led set up (SKU 507001) - i didnt want to mod the bike to an all dc setup which is why it hasnt been done yet-

Since you can now run them with stock wiring is there a way to add a hi and low function on the led setup running ac current? The bike sees alot of street duty and i would definitely need to dim the light down on a low setting to avoid blinding fellow motorists.

Do you currently have the (SKU 507001) XL Pro?  If not, we will be offering the same light in an AC version soon.  If you do currently have the XL Pro, please shoot me a message.  We can modify the unit to accept the new AC module.

The XL Pro is the only light that can currently be dimmed on AC due to the built in dimming feature in the circuit board (25% Mode).  You can utilize this on AC by adding the optional mode switch to your handlebars (SKU 660061) for $26.95 TT.  This will allow you to maintain a "street friendly" setup without major modifications.

All you need to do is connect one wire coming from the mode switch to your XL Pro and run the other wire to a ground.

Thank You,

Nice!! Definitely on my list of things to do here real soon.

Is the switch just a simple on/off switch? It appears that way in the pics- o dont have much room on my bars as the bike is wired up with switches from a mid 2000's yamaha r6- would it be possible to use the hi/low headlight switch that is currently on the bike for this function?

Correct.  It is just a push button switch that triggers the light to go into dimmed mode.  It might be possible for you to modify your switch to use instead of the read push button.  It would require ground to be applied to the green wire on low and ground to be removed from the green wire on high.  Definitely a custom setup and could possibly be do able.
