I replaced my fork seal about 1 yr ago and they are already leaking pretty bad.....not sure why

I see this rather odd procedure in the manual where you slip plastic over the end of the damper to slide the seal on?.....can anyone explain the why nd how of this a bit more?

Are the lips of the seal that flimsy and weak? Or does pulling the plastic off flip the lips of the seal in the right direction?

You cover the sharp edges of the inner fork tube while sliding the new seals over them.

Yes, they can cut the new seal.

There are a few considerations

- if your bushings are worn or lower tubes scratched / pitted

- ride a lot in muddy conditions

- don't tape up sharp edges and grease them during installation

- use doubtful quality aftermarket parts
