2015 and 2016 mapping the same?

Recommended Posts

I putchaswd a 2016 YZ450 and have the power Tuner for putting in dofferent EFI maps. Was wondering if the maps that are used in the 2015 will work in the 2016.

Does anyone have any good setups for the 2016 for MX?

I found maps for 2015 yz450 for like Hard Hitting (Loamy conditions) Broader Linear power (slippery conditions) and longer pulling (sandy conditions) wondering if these will work in the 2016?

Also I had a Jay Marmount map that was for my 2011 yz450 an would it work in my 2016?

Try all the maps. I've run every map in my built 16' WR450 from a YZF, FX and all the GYTR maps I found.

I can't imagine the ignition timing being different when at all 0's. The fuel can't be off a mile either. They all have the same motor same fuel injection and a slightly different pipe when in de restricted mode.

Well, the fact is that the base maps on almost every year model are different from one another.  Almost all of the changes are timing.  Fueling requirements won't differ very much.

Among the '14-'16 models, the engine itself is fundamentally identical, so the variance in engine power behavior is all in the timing curve, probably no more than +/- 3 from one to another given cell on the tuner.  You should fairly easily be able to make one behave like the other with a little experimentation.

Hum you can go +4 or -4 on the timing, that's all. If it started off already like a +2, I doubt they would allow it to be adjusted further one way or the other. But there is no way to know. Unless Yamaha tells us. All the ECU's use different part numbers but they all have different electronics. The FX has the electronic circuit for the fan shut off timer. The WR has the fan plus the light is timed.

Best to load a bunch of different maps to see what one likes or dislikes. The timing changes make a big difference either the bike is doggy with -'s or peppy with +'s.

And we don't know how many degrees a plus 1 is good for, either.  Timing is clearly the more dangerous thing to fiddle with, which is why it's restricted the most.

I wonder if the maps that were made for the 2010 an 2011 model would have impact on the my 2016?

I have the maps for my 2010 model and wonder if I load one of em in if the 2016 would even accept it? Or would be to detrimental to the engine to try them?

I did however use the Hard Hitting map from the 2016 maps.

Maps published for other years or models will load just fine in most cases, but their effect is a matter to be found out by riding.  A map that calls for a +2 on timing in any particular cell will fudge the timing +2 in that cell regardless of how it was actually base mapped.  The question is whether that cell was the same at 0 as the same cell on the bike for which the map was made.
