FX Has New Competition

Honda came out with a closed course 450 racer --- CRF450RX. Just like the FX, smoothed out motocross engine, trail chassis, no emissions junk.

 

The 250 version cannot be far behind.

Nice to see the Japanese company's are finally getting it and lets see what Kawi comes up with and how they ALL deal with the 250's

Still, bring it on. Competition means better bikes and better prices.

I'm a Honda guy but I'm not holding my breath waiting to see what the Japanese company's are eventually going to come up with.

 

My next brand new bike will most likely be a Beta or Husky

I'd be surprised if Honda came up with a line of 2-strokes in the near future (or even just one).

Even in prototype racing classes like MotoGP, it's all 4-stroke and looks to stay that way by choice.

 

That 2017 RMX450Z looks like the 2010 RMX450Z that was sold in the USA that year until the Feds put a halt to it because it was too easy to eliminate the EPA fueling regulations.

 

I can imagine a CRF250RX whenever the CRF250R gets redesigned.

 

The CRF450R and CRF450RX are getting new versions of the Showa twin-chamber coil spring fork, too (no more air fork).

The CRF450R gets optional electric start.

I like the new Suzuki I don't care what they are saying it weighs. That RMZ450 based engine is a beast! I had a 07 setup for woods by factory connection and it was very fast in the woods. Keeping the front wheel on the ground was tough but man that thing was a turning animal. Never rode s Yamaha to date that would turn that good and with virtually no effort.

If you read the specs they say they modified the gears a bit from the moto machine.

Its about damn time!   What took them so long to get back into the fight?     They still aren't all the way in it though.   Where are the factory plated bikes?  Where is the yz350fx?      

 

No doubt the KTM's are great bikes.  But we need Honda and Yamaha to push KTM and Beta on prices and whatever the hell it is that they are trying to do with the forks on their bikes.  

 

We need KTM and Beta to push Yamaha and Honda on weight, displacement and performance.   

 

More choices is good for the consumer.

We actually do want choices.

Jap bikes are waaaaay more agressive in power and suspension and longevity......and they are less expensive!

That's a real choice.

Ya I agree with all of that and honestly we are living in incredible time for off road bike options and I've posted this comment before in other topics.

 

I was not really surprised Yammie has stepped up to the plate with both 2T and 4T but I was slightly surprised  seeing the new Suzuki and the RX BUT from what I heard is that Honda's not doing a new 2T any time soon BUT I may be mistaken.

 

I also think KTM made a good move consolidating their bikes cus really its nice to have options but IMO they had way too many.

Re the new Honda's gearing, isn't it just the final drive - ie not a a wide ratio gearbox - just different sprocket combo? Could have read it wrong though.

 

Still love my Yamies.
