2008 crf250r

I just recently picked up a 2008 crf250r and runs fine and idles fine but in 4th gear near the rev limiter it will sputter but only sometimes. Also sometimes it takes a million kicks to start it even if it's warm and other times it starts with 2 kicks. Any help would be appreciated

check your valves

In addition to checking the valves check the jets and see what size they are.

The previous owner got the valves checked and everything came back good so I don't know if it is that. It seems to be getting better the more I ride it because before I got it, it was hardly used
