690 Enduro/SMC power parts short levers installed!

Recommended Posts

In my search for shorty levers for my 2012 690 Enduro R, I almost bought the short levers from ktmtwins.com last night. They are something like $220 USD and they have that chinesey look to them which I do not like.

Anyone who wants short levers knows that KTM power parts does not offer them for the Enduro/smc (At least not from what I could find) and have to go with chinese ones or ones from ktm twins.

I took my oem levers off and went into ktm and brought home the closest matching pair they had in there. Here are the part numbers of what I purchased from the dealer.

4620283100004 Clutch lever

7801380220004 Brake lever

The clutch lever works perfectly! I had to take the little red knob off the adjuster so it would clear. Once I adjusted the screws just right it works amazing and is the two finger grip just like I wanted. There is a long spring that is used with the oem lever that is not needed with this one. You just adjust all the screws properly and its not needed.

The brake lever requires a little bit of cutting to work. There is a little piece hanging off the end where it bolts up, I assume it is for the brake light switch. You can cut it off easily with a hack saw but it has to be cut at the same angle as the oem lever so that it will press the brake switch button properly.

And you can see in this pic where it has been cut and where the switch is located.

It was also very very slightly too thick so I just barely touched it on the bench grinder to take the tiniest amount of material off. It was probably literally 0.001 of an inch I had to remove so it was not very much. You can see in the following pick the mark where it has been removed under the bolt.

And just like that! It fits perfect! I had to adjust all the screws of course and actually had to remove the adjuster screw altogether from the brake lever. They operate perfectly and have the two finger grip just like I wanted. They feel great and look great!
