Drz400sm radiator problems please help

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, please excuse me as I'm new to the thumper talk and the drz. I've had my 2007 sm for about 2 weeks now. on my way home from work yesterday I noticed water/coolant leaking for the bottom of my left radiator. On inspection when getting home I noticed it was leaking from the radiator sensor at the top of the rad. So I left it to cool down and tried to remove the sensor thinking a new washer was required. Well just my luck it rounded off on the way out. and not just the sensor but the thread inside to rad to. So I've ordered new rads but there gonna take two weeks to arrive. But I need the bike for everyday commute to work. so here's my dilemma I was going to tig weld the sensor back in. but looking at it the heat from the welding would just melt all the plastic inside the sensor. So knowing they were scrap anyway I welded a cap over the sensor screw in point I will try and add a pic. So will this work ? Will the bike run ok with only the right sensor working ? Will it effect the fan and things like that ? I have a vapor trail tech fitted to the bike so I can still see the coolant temp if I ride but I just want to know if I'm going to hurt the bike ? Many thanks for any help you can give me cheers zero fox ImageUploadedByThumper Talk1467144781.403566.jpg
