New to me XR650L

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and using it as research as I build my bike. I picked it up tonight. It's a 94 XR650L that is in a thousand pieces. The guy got it from said he ran it low of oil and it started making a funny noise so he shut it down. He stripped it then lost interest in it. It's a wreck but I think with a little TLC I can turn it into the adv bike I've been looking for. I'm excited about what it can be transformed into.

cool.

I'd check the oil passages in the frame and suspension are good first then follow the service manual for engine removal or what-not.

should have it going soon if parts are available, if engine is baked a bit.

Yeah the first thing I'm going to do is look at the frame. It set up outside without an oil cap so there is rust in the oil tank/ frame. Going to soak it with some vinegar to see if I can get it cleaned up.

I used my phone on the tt app. Just snap a photo and in the quick reply hit the plus button. Then on the drop down menu at the top right gives you the option to attach a photo/s. I haven't used a pc with the site so I can't give you any help with that unfortunatly.
