Magura HYD Clutch, yay or nay?

I can just 1 finger pull the standard clutch on my 2015 WR but it's nearly at my fingers strength limit and after a while 2 fingers become necessary, should I drop the $400 on a magura HYD setup or is the difference not that great?

Just get a ARC pro lever, and exchange the stock springs for WR250 springs.

I loved the (non magura9 hydraulic cluth i once had on my WR400F: Perfect engagement point, no changes due to engine heating, super easy to pull, yust great.

The slick and tiny(!) magura was great, too, especially the very robust plastic (!) lever, but they forgot to supply a pivot point for the actuator cylinder. The threaded pull rod (2mm diameter?) woudl eventually break.

IIRC there is (were)  no maguras for e-start WR-Fs, the actuator cylinder would fight with the e-start housing.

 

Hydraulic clutches are the future, yust ride a KTM during the last decade.

However a well adjusted cable clutch works as well, and is a nice finger muscle workout.

Some like the feel (or lack of) you get with a hydraulic clutch but personally I'd prefer a cable on all my bikes. Replace the cable regularly, keep it maintained and stock a GENUINE spare

Eh, Bike was brand new 6 months ago, I don't think a new cable is gonna change much lol.

Sorry Krannie....couldn't disagree more. The 2012 -2015 clutch pull is ridiculous compared to the 09 and the Maura solved the problem completely (for me). One finger all day.

Yes, there is slightly less feel and slightly wider engagement point but those two things are totally acceptable in light of the substantially lighter pull.

Stand by my "worth every penny statment" for the 2012-2015 at least. Just my humble opinion of course.

I've seen cables wear out in half a season. You were pretty vague in your OP. If the clutch action is too heavy fit 3 or 6 clutch springs from the 250. If it's still too heavy blow $400 on a Magura set up.

Magura is perfect. 25% less effort needed than OEM cable on 2016 Wr450F. Get one.

I've never tried a hydro add-on clutch on my WR so I can't say anything about them good or bad.

 

I do run an MSR Raptor clutch assembly and love it. Adjustable from stock lever pull effort up to 32.5% percent reduction from stock. Needle bearings.

 

At the 32.5% position I can one finger the clutch all day. A lot cheaper than a hydro and really nice quality. Maybe what the OP is looking for?

Owners of the pre 2016 bikes have been doing this mod for years with no slippage issues.

At 250lbs and my penchant for ripping across the desert and climbing the mountains we have here in SoCal at WFO, pretty sure my clutch would be slipping within the first ride....no 250 springs for me thanks.

Might be OK in UK where most of the riding I've done there has been in very very slippery/muddy conditions.....read no traction.....that might lend itself to lighter springs but the stuff we have here on the left coast of the US....not so much.

I heard about the clutch spring mod on this forum, populated almost entirely by Americans, some of which probably live on the left side of the US. They've had no issues, and for the few $$ 3 springs and a clutch gasket costs, surely it makes sense to try it before blowing $400 on a hydraulic set up.

How can you claim "they've had no issues"....do you converse with them on a regular basis? Have you verified that "they" have in fact had no issues? Speculation at best!

The Magura works...full stop and as I mentioned, one finger all day action is bliss.

And at $229 here in the US and apparently $400 in Aus. IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!
