How do I find out which piston to use a b c or d?

There's only one size oem piston to use...

One size only UNLESS you go to an aftermarket piston.  Certain aftermarket suppliers offer alternate sizes. 

 

The right way to choose in those cases is to have the bore prepped correctly, then measured professionally to determine its actual minimum and maximum size.  If it passes muster as far as wear tolerances, then you find the piston size that gives the most correct clearance numbers. 

 

The simplest, and one of the most reliable choices, is the stock Yamaha piston.
