Who's taken their DRZ400 on an epic adventure?

Recommended Posts

I've nicknamed my DRZ "Dozer" short for bulldozer. My bike earned this name because everyone kept telling me I'd bought a tractor, I thought a tractor wasn't the right name. Dozer is much more suited, this wonderful beast has just managed to drag my butt on an epic 21 day 7,000+ kilometre journey across some of our toughest outback roads in Australia. He did it with not one issue, not even a puncture carrying 40kgs of luggage. And since Dozer is my first bike and I've only had my license 9 months when I started the journey you could say I've grown very attached to him.

I'd loved to hear about other peoples adventures on their DRZ, I've proven plenty of people wrong about this bike.

I will be making a film of the trip, in the meantime I have put together a film trailer which gives you a bit an idea what we got up to. Enjoy!

Very cool, i did enjoy that. I haven't yet, but planning a similar adventure down the Contientail divide of North America.

Great filming skills, capturing the essence of Adventuring. The experiances of different people places and situations. living life out side the hum drum daily urban life. Well done, i look forward to the film.

I just did a 2190km trip through ontario to sudbury two weeks ago, then the roaming rally 2016 this past weekend which was 800km of gravel roads, gnarly track and mud pits and general shitshow-level stuff. DRZ was as good as it could have been.

Where's the pictures Ever. Or you......

I don't take a lot of pictures. I tend to focus on the riding and the 'mental' snapshots as I find the pics are often a let down and I spent too much time thinking about that "perfect shot". That said, here's the "Quinns" that we traversed.

Some of us went to Sudbury.

The moonscape of Sudbury, haha, that was your destination? Good riding around all those rocks?

Some nasty trails you went on there, good thing you had lots of help hauling the bikes up round there. looked like a blast though.

I know what you mean about the pictures, sometimes the last thing i'm thinking about when enjoying a good ride. I will though get some pic. of the old gold mining towns i'll visit in a couple of weeks.

Just watched this again and it's even more impressive than the first time......very well done, and not just the pictures of where you rode, but how they were taken, everything about it was professional. Am gonna totally enjoy the film when you get it done......again, nice job! ?

Thanks sign man! About time I ride somewhere scenic on the drz. About 400 miles of riding (100 miles highway, 150 back roads, 70 fire roads, and 70ish offroad)

Cruised 65-70 mph

Mpg avg whole ride: 59.76

Knobbies get pretty choppy above 70 mph but did great otherwise

Temperature was 82-87

Explorer jacket MSR would get hot if I stopped for more than 5 minutes but at speed I was completely comfortable. Vents very well and for $100 it's worth it
