Will these '09 peg brackets fit a '06 FX?

The Systemtec website says 2005-2009 YZ frames, so since all the frames were changed over the years, I'm not sure if it will fit, AND you might possibly loose the kickstand in the process (intregal mount?)

...but yeah it will probably fit knowing Yamaha

Compare the part numbers for the brackets from an 09 YZ to the 16 YZ, that will tell a lot about fitment.  And yes you're going to lose the kickstand if you replace the brackets, but you might be able to build a bracket to use the OEM stand?

That brings up an idea, Krannie - why not have a machine shop make you some foot peg brackets; then you get exactly what you need. Might be worth looking into. Or you could just buy that CNC mill and make them yourself...

Oh, I will get them made, if necessary.

Wouldn't be the first time the millwork man ran away when I walked into his shop. The last time was for KYB sleeves for the WP fork replacements.

 

The SystemTec brackets will NOT work, according to SystemTec, on the '14+ frames. 

He said 'new brackets won't be possible with the new Yam frames'. 

Not sure what he means...

That's a pretty dramatic thing to say. They are bolt-on parts; pretty sure it's extremely possible. I could probably make something in my garage that would work. It would be ugly as hell, but I bet I could figure it out.

Well, if you take a close look at the new brackets, and imagine making them 1" lower without making the pegs go back, you will see how tough a project it would be.

Yes it can be done, but you won't be able to do it in your garage unless you have a pretty advanced fabricating set up.

The lower mounting bolt will end up in a location that will compromise the bracket strength, unless you add some boxing.

That's where it gets complicated.

Yeah, I was looking at pictures of the stock 14+ footpegs last night before I made that claim, and I had only had a cup of coffee at the time. Not moving back at all would be tricky because of the orientation of the mounting bolts, but I do think if I was really motivated, I could make something that would work. I like figuring stuff like that out and have made all sorts of brackets and whatnot for different projects. I can weld, cut, grind, and drill in my garage - clean up the cuts and welds, coat it in something durable and you're in business. I'm not bidding the job, just saying I think it can be done.

Naw not impossible at all I've got the right guy. We built cnc lowered chrome molly foot peg brackets for my little BBR framed crf230-250cc bike.

The FX comes in when the WR goes out, so probably 30 days or less.
