Hey guys I am looking at buying a wr 450. I use my bike for transportation and put about 800 miles a month on it. I live in Belize and our roads are bad so I want a dirt bike. Will the engine hold up fine if I change the gear ratio? Another thing what are the best tires for running both pavement and off-road? What is the best oil for that bike?

WR is a great bike, but IMHO I think youre better of with an XT...
Though heavier...
But for your purposes better suited...
Maybe only thing to alter would be suspention...

Good luck with your choice!

I'm running a 15/46 tooth setup on my '08 450 for highway speeds.  It cruises along at 65mph easily now.  With the stock gearing (13/50) it started getting buzzy around 45mph on the pavement.
