Scotts on an FX

Recommended Posts

If you want a SUB mount that puts the bars in the equivalent of position 3 or 4, contact Scotts directly and tell them what you want. If it comes down to it, they can often make it for you.

Yeah I did contact them. Eric said they are different than any other bike made that it wouldn't be feasible to make. For starters he'd have to make 50 minimum and I'd have to buy all 50. We will be looking at different bars.

Yeah I made that one.  It has bolt holes drilled for all 4 bar positions (you have to flip the mount around when you go to the rear-most bar positions).  I don't think there's enough interest for me to ask my CNC guy to make a batch of them, but I can have him quote at a qty of 10.  You may have to clearance a small amount of material on the side of the arm to run the #2 and the #3 positions, since they're nested forwards and at full swing they may contact the corners of the mount.  Shouldn't be a huge deal though.  I don't know for certain yet because I've just left it in the #4 spot where I initially wanted it and I love it there.

Alternatively, if you have someone able to make it for you, I'm perfectly willing to provide a STEP file, SolidWorks part file, and a fully dimensioned print of the part for someone else to make.  Anyone with MasterCAM should be able to program it, and it can be done in two setups with the right tooling.  Three setups if the handlebar groove can't be done as a Z finishing style cut.

#4 position is what I'm after. I have absolutely no idea what you said after that.

Yeah that's what I got from the pics Monk put up. I think they (Scotts) should just make 50. They would sell.

Yeah you'd think so.  They always said they had no requests for a #4 position mount.  At 6'0" I hated every position except the furthest forward one.  Everyone I see locally with these bikes runs the bars forwards too.

Mine lets you run any bar position with the one mount, which they don't do.  As I said, if I get requests, I'll make more.
