I Have seen lots of mag pics of riders not using the fork guard guides. I assume that weight savings is the only advantage. Can I do this with my stock fork guards?

i didnt run mine until i switched to a honda route front brake line . it was pulling the guards into the forks leaving a rub mark in the forks. so i put them back on . but if you run a stock brake line you dont have to run them

The guides are one of the first things I ditch on a new bike (along with the handle bars). It's much easier and quicker to pull out the dust seals to clean and lube them between rides.
