Seat Consepts or other?

Did you get your DS stuff put on?   I bolted the plate on mine today.  It doesn't have signals, and the headlight isn't wired up yet, but it is registered and insured.  

It has a knob tire on the back, I'm gonna go to a trials tire (Shinko 241) but I'm gonna let this one wear out a bit before I change it over.  I also went down one on the front sprocket to gear it a little lower.

I also put handlebar risers on, to make it more comfortable when standing.

 

I got the yz fender Fri but had a ride yesterday so I'm gonna start tearing it down today or tomorrow and do a few other TLC items while things are outta the way. Hopefully I'll be on it again this weekend, maybe even with my Seat Concepts seat.

Life happens and I won't be able to spend any time working on the bike this week. I should be able to finish it up early next week and I'll post some pics. Loving the look of the dual color gripper/gripper seat.

New here...I bought a like new '06 WR450 and am in the process of dual sporting it. Also being vertically challenged (30" inseam), I am looking at seat options as a way of lowering the 'standing height'. I've considered Corbin, but have read other bike brand posts that said while seat height was lowered, the added width made their bikes feel just as tall.

So Seat Concepts does offer a lowered seat kit? I didn't see it on their web site.

No lowered option for this bike. I thought I was used to hanging a cheek when I stop etc. Then I got this new seat. I'm learning all over again due to the gripper. Its still easy enough to come to a stop but when on a hill climb if I loose too much momentum and need to dab I get into a little trouble. If I 'jump' to the side it kicks the bike and that doesn't help keep it upright lol. But I'm getting used to it. Its a good thing to always try and keep from dabbing and stay on the pegs anyway. Especially if you have bad knees ?

I definitely do not see a low seat for your bike but you could always give them a call and see what they can do.

Thats what I did. They told me they don't have the lowered option for this bike.

 

To be honest, I wish I hadn't done the lowered option for my 400, not near as comfy as the standard. Worth riding it tall, imo.

Bill, The Fisher saddle would be more expensive than the SC's. Fisher will do custom mods which I like a lot. They lowered  1" and widened my seat ~1/2" which made it lower and more comfortable. It was pricey can't remember exactly but really great workmanship and I haven't regretted the extra.

Already did the suspension. Gotta get it set up to my weight and riding style anyway, right? Unfortunately, I'm only 5'4" and I don't want to lose all my travel so its still tall ?

I went the Guts comfort route. The seat grips well and feels like a recliner compared to the factory seat. I can still move on it quickly yet it grips well. I went with the factory height but notice a difference when I sit on it. I have a 30" inseam too and it made a difference for me.

5'4", that's a tough one. I'm 5'7" and struggle sometimes. I would try lowering the subframe along with shaving the seat. I know JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) will do it, but I don't remember the cost. If you are adventurous you could take it to a local welding shop, but you'll want to find one that doesn't have any employees called "Bubba". Or do it yourself.

You may end up having to shave your seat yourself.

Avoiding tires that run tall can buy you a few mm, also, but now we're really splitting hairs.

Contacted Fisher. They can/ will mod my spare seat: lower an inch/ widen it, but it will cost as much as a Corbin...and will use the 'jancky' seat foam the spare came with!

Apparently Seat Concepts email system is inop from their web page. Tried all 4 with no response from any of them. Maybe their too busy to answer emails? Will try a phone call today.

They will use other foam won't they? I spent the money at Fisher and somebody here on TT told me that the work would be excellent & I would be glad I spent the extra,  and they were right. Those guys are old school customer service is good and quality excellent.

 

Too busy to answer customers emails is the same as treating a customer like shit IMHO. Why even bother if it is /dev/null???
