2016 WR450 Ride Report & Opinions

The last two oil changes I overfilled it. It says it takes about 3/4 of a quart on an oil change? The first time I put a quart in it this time I put less than a quart in it. I am way over the sight glass. However it hasn't puked out yet even with all those hill climbs. I haven't seen any bad results. I feel guilty just adding over half a quart on a oil change.

Maybe I need to get use to it or use the oil level screw next to the sight glass. The 07-11 always took a quart any more and they would puke out oil from the breather tube.

Dang, you sure you're draining all the oil out? Sure there's not a 2nd oil plug? My KTM has 2. It's just, dayum, just over a half quart of oil?

The manual only specifies one drain plug. I'm with Steve, 3/4 quart just doesn't feel like enough. That's even with a filter change.

Well my 2014 has more than one. It has 2 engine plugs mid and back and the lower oil filter bolt acts as drain as well. Guess they changed things in 2016.

So tonight I installed GYTR exhaust tip with larger opening. I was thinking about getting FMF pipe instead, but two lbs savings were not enough to offset a bike that is too loud. Instead, I ordered larger exhaust tip, overpriced for what it is, $50.

Yamaha says its 96db. I was hoping it's less and I wasn't disappointed. It flows a lot more than stock uncorked tip, yet it's not a lot louder, just enough to be nice without being obnoxious. I actually measured db rating with an app and it was no more than 87 while revviing the engine.

I finally got a chance to install some maps into GYTR tuner, so I will get a chance to try them on Sunday. Any good maps for stock uncorked bike?

The all zero map is supposed to work with just a pipe. I also posted a fx map that seems to work.

No were riding. Went with my boy called the Boy Friday to the snake pit. Just keep dialing things in.

The Wolf has been out for a couple of weeks getting the KTM rebuilt.

Yea, I thought Wolfies bike was to be done at least a week ago :mechaniconvacation: ?

Installed the GYTR ECU tonight, and removed the tea kettle. Someone needs to find the guy on the assembly line that installed the airbox and turn his impact gun WAYYY down. The screws holding the filter screen on were torqued way too tight. I stripped two getting them off.

The tea kettle came right off, though. I used some flush-cut snips and the plastic rivets practically fell off. They came off so clean you can barely tell they were ever there.
