My 2015 is 4 months old. Garaged. Hosed after every ride. I live in Acton, it's desert. I noticed this today

It's just the crankcase and header. My 06 YZ didn't do this, same environment.

Normal?

Do I even need to worry?

Looks like you got something on it. Just wash it like normal. Your definitely not at the beach.

That's a steel header, meaning it will start to rust anytime water and oxygen are present. You can dry it off after each wash, and I also spray it with WD40 to displace the water.

But yes, this is normal.

It wouldn't be steel it would be stainless steel.

Got to run the motor and get it HOT after washing or you will get calcium deposits on all the aluminum  parts that are not anodized....

I use compressed air to blow the water out of all the nooks and crannies and run it... Lots of work, but it ensures everything is good and dry.,, you'd be surprised how much water is hidden in your brakes, wiring, suspension, etc, that running doesn't address.

I never thought it was mineral deposits. Why would it only show on the crankcase and not the cylinder? Different coating on the aluminum?
